If you pay any attention whatsoever to the world of mobile gaming, you’ll know that Claw Stars is shaping up to be one of this year’s biggest hits, following a hugely successful pre-registration campaign.
How successful? Claw Stars racked up more than 500,000 pre-registrations in a month, prompting its developers to create more game features and increase rewards. Appxplore added a further 25 planets, new spaceships, new spacesuits, and more, while doubling the number of Style Tokens for early birds, from 25 to 50 (although note that pre-registration rewards can only be claimed after 7 days of login).
Claw Stars went on to hit a million pre-registrations in the month that followed.
So what’s all the fuss about? Claw Stars is a cute and hilarious combination of gacha and claw games – with a deliciously bizarre backstory.
It seems that thousands of hamsters that were sent into space for survivability experiments have slipped through a temporal wormhole and evolved into a race of super-intelligent interstellar rodents.
Upon their return, these miraculous space hamsters build a fleet of spaceships and head for home, only to discover that all the living creatures are now trapped inside mysterious orbs, like prizes in a claw machine. Funny that.
Your goal is to save your animal comrades by hoisting them out of danger with a giant claw that swings from the bottom of your custom designed spaceship. In the process you’ll also restore habitats across the galaxy, and earn a bit of loot in the process.
Claw Stars sees you going from planet to planet rescuing a range of creatures that have evolved across time – and as you do so you’ll be competing with other players to build up the biggest and best collection.
Best of all, Claw Stars lets you play dirty. You can raid other players’ vaults for coins, blockade their buildings, and even kidnap their critters for a ransom.
